Dorla Dean Ammons, 93, of 4795 N US Hwy 421, Clinton passed away at her home on Thursday, December 18, 2025, with her family by her side.
Funeral services for Mrs. Ammons will be on Monday, December 22, 2025, at 2 PM at New Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Mike Cummings, officiating, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive family and friends at the church on Monday from 1- 2 PM and other times at her home.
Dorla was born in Sampson County on December 14, 1932, to the late Ammie and Themia Simmons Jacobs and was the widow of William (Mose) Ammons. Dorla (Sissy) spent her life taking care of and doing for others whether it was her family, being a homemaker or her work as a CNA. In addition to her parents and husband she was also preceded in death by her 3 daughters, Harriett Mitchell, Valette Dean (Vale) Ammons and Mona Lynel Ammons and 3 sisters, Shirley Carter, Sonja Faye Tyler and Phyllis Grey Bryant.
Left to cherish her memories are 2 grandchildren, Tenesha Abernethy (Bryan), Trenton Mitchell (Puja); 4 Great-grandchildren: William Taj Mitchell, Priya lee Mitchell, Divya Marie Mitchell, William Luke Abernethy, and 3 brothers: Ammie Gordon “Gordy” Jacobs, Gregory Dancel Jacobs (Debi) and Kent Jacobs (Tammy) and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
