Don Roe Tanner Obituary

Don Roe Tanner, 88, passed away Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro, NC.

Don was born February 26, 1937, in Show Low, Arizona to the late Don Carlos Tanner and Ecco Whipple Tanner. He is a veteran of the U.S. Army and earned his degree in engineering. After working in Arizona, he moved to northern New York in 1981 and retired from Northland in 2003 after over 21 years of employment. He then spent over 20 years in the Salemburg and Roseboro areas in retirement. The many friends he made at the local diners and at the gyms he frequented over the years will miss and fondly remember him.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Myrna Gibson, and wife, Donna Tanner. He is survived by his two children, Margo Sands and Don Michael Tanner of Phoenix, AZ; three stepchildren, Satricia Rice of Concord, OH, Jay Hall of Columbus, OH, and Maria Smiley of Palm Bay, FL; 10 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.

No services are planned; however, his remains will be laid to rest with his late wife in northern NY.
