Denzel Ray Johnson, Sr., 87, of 4605 Winterlochen Road, passed away Friday, January 10, 2025 at his home.

A funeral service will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, January 18th at Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home.  Interment will follow in the Clinton City Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 10 AM to 11 AM just before the service at the funeral home.

Denzel, born April 23, 1937 in Sampson County, was the son of the late Dallie Johnson and Avaniel Green Johnson.  He worked with the Raleigh News and Observer for over 50 years and retired as a Master Sergeant in the NC National Guard. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Joann Conner Johnson and fourteen siblings.

Survivors include his children Denzel Ray Johnson, Jr. and Donnie Greg Johnson and sisters Justine Lee and Mary Dixie.
