Dave Freeman Rackley, 73, of 415 D West Elizabeth Gardens, passed away Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at Sampson Regional Medical Center.

A graveside service will be held 1 P.M., Saturday, January 16, 2016, at Clinton City Cemetery, with the Rev. Billy Bass officiating. 

Dave, born in 1942 in Sampson County, was the son of the late Arthur Mosley Rackley and Rhoda Pearl Tyndall Rackley.  He formerly worked for the City of Clinton Water Department and Handee Hugos.   He was preceded in death by brothers and sisters; Buddy Rackley, Irene Williams, Idell Tyndall, Mozell Rackley, Macey Blackburn, Reva Dudley and Lucille Davis.  

He is survived by his wife, Peggy Joyce Rackley; daughter, Sheria Lee Rackley Johnson and husband Jesse of Autryville; son, David Ray Rackley; grandchildren, C. J. Clay, Jonathon Alexander Johnson, Isaac Donovan Johnson, and Pandora Rae Rackley; and sister, Mamie Rackley Vann.

The family will receive friends from 6 P.M. – 8 P.M., Friday, January 15, 2016 at Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home, 118 Fayetteville Street, Clinton, NC  28328.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Lung Association, PO Box 27985, Raleigh, NC  27611.
