Clara, born October 22, 1935 in Sampson County, was the daughter of the late Erby Westbrook and Hattie Hall Westbrook. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Harold Edwards and Willie F. Lane, sister Mary Lib Bass, and son-in-law Al Buckner.
She loved her family, always putting them first. Clara loved the Lord and was ready to go home. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. Mom loved her home and her back porch and especially enjoyed her ferns. She definitely had a green thumb. Sitting on her porch talking with family and friends was a favorite pastime. She loved beach music and listened to the Boogie Shoes Show as long as she was home. She worked in sales with the Sampson Independent.
Survivors include: daughters, Wanda Buckner of Clinton and Debbie Reeves (Lynwood) of Kinston; sons, Mike Lane of Newton Grove and Lee Lane of Clinton; grandchildren, Kris Harper, Matt Buckner, Ben Buckner and Erica Hope; seven grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and two special sisters-in-law, Peggy Clifton and Lucille Chesnutt.
Memorials may be made to the Autism Society of NC, 5121 Kingdon Way, Raleigh, NC 27606.
Special thanks to her caregivers, Helen Caldwell, Janet Giddens, Brenda Alvarez, Gentiva Hospice, Carol Aman, Dr. Larry Watts and the Rolling Ridge Staff.
