Cherry Dailey Obituary

Cherry Ann Dailey, 66, of Clinton, NC passed away on January 15, 2022 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

Funeral service will be held at 3:30 PM, Thursday, January 20th, 2022 at Piney Grove Baptist Church in Faison with Pastor Robert Beasley officiating. Internment will follow at Piney Grove cemetery.

Cherry, born Cherry Ann Neugent on March 14, 1955 in Harrisburg, PA, was the daughter of the late Donald Neugent and Shirley Zimmerman. Raised in Miami, FL, Cherry lived across the street from the man who would become the object of her lifelong devotion, her husband Clifford Steven Dailey (Steve). Cherry and Steve had a love and marriage many dream of, but few find. After being blessed with three children, they settled in Sampson County where Cherry spent nearly 20 years with Sampson County Schools working with exceptional children. Despite battling her own disability, Cherry poured out loving patience onto “her kids” every single day.  She was very proud of all of them and treasured the opportunity to be part of their lives.

Cherry Dailey is survived by her husband of 47 years, Steve Dailey, sons Thomas Eugene Dailey (Katherine), of Fayetteville, Duane Dailey of Clinton, and daughter Stephanie Ann Sullivan (Alex) of Eastover; Grandchildren, Tommy Dailey (Charla), Bobby Dailey, Jesse Dailey (Kim), Cassy Dailey, Hunter Rippey (Cheyanne),  Matthew Long, Tanner Dailey, Lila Dailey, Shawn Dailey, Trey Dailey, Lauren Dailey, Levi Dailey, Weston Dailey, Noah Sullivan, Hannah Sullivan, Norah Cate Sullivan, and Asa Sullivan. She also had 6 great grandchildren, Sawyher Dailey, Leyah Dailey, Otto Dailey (whom she now holds in heaven), Alanna Dailey, Sydney Dailey, and Ibira Rippey.

Cherry Dailey will be greatly missed by all those who knew her and had the privilege to live life in the presence of her light and love. She dedicated her life to loving and building up others.  She was always a deep well of loving compassion, strength, and encouragement, especially to her grandchildren. She found joy and contentment in every situation. Cherry was the rock of her family, pouring out her attention and affection to anyone in need. She willingly and wholeheartedly offered all her time and energy for them. Her house, her kitchen, and her affections were always open. She prayed for them without ceasing. And she loved them with a purity and a selflessness unending.

More than anything, Cherry loved the Lord.  She was an active and cherished member of Piney Grove Baptist Church. Cherry was a truly Godly woman of character who took great joy in sharing Christ with the little children of her life, raising them up in the way they should go.  As a devoted wife, a truly selfless mother, grandmother, great grandmother, an encouraging educator, or a caring friend, Cherry Dailey embodied sacrificial love for others.

In honor of Cherry’s legacy the family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to the Baptist Children's Home, PO Box 338, Thomasville, NC  27361.
