Charles “Bugs” Dewitt Mills, 93, of 405 Pineview Road, passed away Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at Southwood Nursing Center.

A graveside service will be held at 2 PM, Thursday, February 26th at Forest Lawn Cemetery West, 4601 Freedom Drive, Charlotte, NC, with Rev. Bob Redmond officiating.  The H. N. Carr family (Hugh and Mary Jo Carr) will host a gathering for the Mills family and friends at their home at 2 PM, Sunday, February 22nd from 2 PM – 4 PM at 1111 Airport Road, Clinton.

Charles, born January 21, 1933, in Mecklenburg County, was the son of the late Hoyle B. Mills and Dora Lee Adams Mills.  He worked in the steel fabricating industry, built swimming pools and was a member and a deacon of New London Baptist Church.  He was raised in Charlotte and also lived at Lake Norman and Richfield, NC.  About nine years ago he and Ann moved to Clinton where he was very happy and made many friends.  To all children, he became known as “Mr. Bugs”.

 In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 74 years Annie McLellan Mills, brothers John Patrick Mills and Michael Levern Mills and sister Marlene Mills.

Survivors include daughter Denise Mills Hendricks and husband Tom of Clinton, his special buddy Steve Jones, and all the H. N. Carr Family and dear friends.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Liberty Hospice of Clinton at 208 Beaman St., Clinton, NC  28328, as their love and assistance was so welcome and helpful.
