Charles “Chuck” Lewis Maxwell, Jr., age 53 was born October 27, 1972 to Charles Lewis Maxwell Sr. and Joyce Smith Maxwell in Clinton, North Carolina. He unexpectedly passed away July 8, 2026. Chuck graduated from Sampson Early College High School. He  is a native of Wallace, NC. Chuck worked in car sales for many years. He was a great salesman just like his daddy.

He had an infectious smile, a huge heart filled with love for all, and a true spirit of adventure. He lived his life to the fullest extent, the way he wanted to, and never looked back.

Chuck enjoyed cooking and grilling meals for friends and family. He liked to sneak away from time to time to travel to the mountains, around town to the Homewood Suites, Westin, and to Danville, Virginia.

His dedication to work was unmatched. During his time at D & E Mitsubishi, he made lasting impressions on clients, co-workers, and members of the community. He enjoyed his time here, helping customers and co-workers, alike.

As a significant other, he was adored, and he adored Mary in return. They filled their lives together with new experiences, always in search of fun, food, sales, and casinos.

As a son and brother, his love was profound. He cherished his mother and sister so immensely.

As a father, his love was deep, although quiet at times.

As a friend, his illuminating spirit filled spaces easily.

As a cousin, his love and appreciation was strong.

He also loved playing pool. He won several tournaments at Tavern 14. He was a great golf player and he enjoyed many rounds over the years on the golf course with family and friends. Chuck was a prankster and absolutely found it hysterical to play jokes on his co-workers.

He is survived by his mother Joyce (Smith) Maxwell, sister Glenda Maxwell Daw (Steve), fiancée Mary Hummel, son Charles Alexander Maxwell (Jordan), daughter Victoria Johnson (Johnathan) granddaughter Sophia Michelle Maxwell, grandson Joshua Alexander Maxwell, niece Aspen Clark (Tristan), nephew Adam Daw, and cousin Connie Miller along with several other cousins, and Uncle Clifton and other uncles and aunts. He was preceded in death by grandparents Hazel Smith Draughon, Lonnie Graham Smith, Ada Maxwell, and John Robert Maxwell Sr., and sister Linda Kay Maxwell, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

We will look for the signs every day and will never stop loving you and remembering the life you shared...Lucky us. As his Mom always says to us all- Chuck-You are Always in My Heart and Always In My Mind and I Love Every Inch Of You and I Mean Every Word Of It, 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family to offset funeral expenses.

Visitation will be held at 9 AM, Tuesday, July 14th at Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home, with the funeral service following at 10 AM, at the funeral home, with Rev. Chubby Rieber officiating. Interment will follow in the Clinton City Cemetery.  In keeping with his favorite color we ask that those attending would wear blue if possible.
