Carroll “Poppie” Ethron Miller 87, of 7961 Keener Road, passed away Thursday, September 28, 2023 at his home.
Funeral service will be held at 3 PM, Sunday, October 1, 2023 at Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home with Rev. Penny Ziemer officiating. The family will receive friends immediately after the funeral service at the funeral home and at other times at the home of his son, Neal, at 7929 Keener Road, Clinton. Interment will be held at 2 PM, Monday, October 2nd at Grandview Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Andy Shaffer and Rev. Terri Shaffer officiating.
Carroll, born February 9, 1936 in Sampson County, was the son of the late Ruvie Ethron Miller and Viola Hobbs Miller. Caroll, known affectionally as Poppie, loved to travel to the mountains, go fishing with his son, riding his golf cart with his dog Lulu and most all cutting grass. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Melba McCullen Miller and siblings, Vernell Miller, Grover Miller and Frances Miller Myers. He retired from Lundy Packing Company.
Survivors include: son, Neal Miller and wife Ruthann of Clinton; daughter, Anncarol Miller of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania; granddaughters, Cathy Rochester and husband Austin, Morgan Tyndall, and Emma and Maddie Boyd; great-grandchildren, Maicah Tyndall and Orianna Flores; brother-in-law, Garrett McCullen and wife Connie; sister-in-law, Marilyn McCullen Jackson; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Stevie, Jennifer and Chloe Dudney.
In lieu of flower memorials may be made to the Falcon Children Home, 7569 N West St., Falcon, NC 28342 or Carr Memorial Church, c/o Jane Brewer, 1801 Pan Handle Road, Faison, NC 28341.
