Carolyn Sumner Naylor, 85, of Roseboro, NC, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2025, at SECU Hospice House. She was born on March 23, 1940, in Clinton, NC to Romelle and Sam Sumner.
Carolyn was a devoted wife to Donnie R. Naylor for 65 years. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, Michael W. Naylor (Michelle), daughter, Donna N. Poole (Kenny), and three loving grandchildren, Jonathan (Katy), Amber (Ryan), and Nathan. Carolyn was preceded in death by her daughter Laura Jane Naylor, mother Lillie Romelle Sumner, father Sam Sumner, brothers Norwood, Jack, and Steve Sumner, and sister Lavice Knowles.
Carolyn was a wonderful and loved mother who was always there for her family, offering support and wisdom throughout their lives. Along with her family, she will be missed by countless friends who felt her warmth and generosity.
Carolyn’s life was a wonderful testimony for her love of God. Her devotion to the Lord provided her with strength and grace that touched everyone who knew her.
An avid sports fan, Carolyn loved watching her grandchildren play a multitude of sports, and spent many an evening yelling at the Tarheels, urging them to victory.
A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, July 23, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Elam Baptist Church with Rev. Brandon Glunt officiating. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at the church and following the service at the home of Kenny and Donna Poole.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mt. Elam Baptist Church and/or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
