Brenda Balkcum Britt, 75, left for her heavenly home January 10, 2023. Born April 2, 1947, she was the daughter of Erastus “Sam” Balkcum and Mae Shirley Rogers Balkcum who preceded her in death along with her sisters, Rexie Usher and Elizabeth Ann Gaskins.
Left to cherish her memories are her husband of 56 years, Thomas Alan Britt, her daughters and their husbands, Kim and Billy Lockamy of Clinton and Jennifer and Ken Honeycutt of Clinton, her granddaughter, Courtney and husband Brad Fulcher of Leland, along with brother Henry Balkcum and wife, Carlene of Plant City Florida, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mrs. Britt was a native of Sampson County. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to many. Some of her most cherished memories were at the beach, Surf City, with good friends having good times. One of her greatest joys was the time she spent shopping with her daughters and granddaughter. Mrs. Britt had a life filled with love and laughter.
A celebration of life service will be held at 3:00 on Friday, January 13, 2023, at Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home. The service will be officiated by Reverend William Tew. The family will receive friends following the service.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Ken Yang as a trusted family physician and friend over the years. The countless home visits and genuine concern for our family were beyond the call of duty and frankly, priceless. Also, our most sincere gratitude to the staff at Arbor Landing of Ocean Isle Memory Care Unit. Words cannot express our gratitude for taking care of our beloved Brenda the past year and a half.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children at shrinerschildrens.org
