 Bennie Jones, 80, passed away Saturday, November 29, 2025, at Sampson Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family.

Funeral Service for Mr. Jones will be held on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at 1 PM at Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home, Pastor John Hobbs, officiating.  The family will receive friends and family from 12 –1 PM, Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at Crumpler Honeycutt Funeral Home. 

Bennie, born June 17, 1945, in Duplin County was the son of the late Raeford Thomas Jones, and Betty Rovine Houston Jones.  

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Ruby Lee Wilson Jones, his daughter Deborah Lee Jones, his son Bennie Jones, Jr. (J.R.), sister Betty Jones Moore, brother-in-law Lynwood Moore.  

Survivors include Fiancé Ann Mitchell, of the home, sister Linda Jones Horne and husband Ray, Grandchildren Lori Jones, Sarah Jones, two great grandchildren, a daughter-in-law, Lorie Jones Thornton and many nieces and nephews. Also, his favorite furry companion “Kitty Cougar” who kept him company during his confinement at home. 

Bennie’s hobbies included hunting (napping in the deer stand), fishing and boating. This was evident by the display of mounted trophies enjoyed by family, friends and caregivers. He also enjoyed working with his tractor and riding his ATV.  

Second to the love for his family, Bennie loved working with heavy equipment. He enjoyed sharing the many interesting experiences on the dozer. One particular job he was so proud of was helping to do the grade work for Highway I-40.  

As we say goodbye, we hold onto the memories he gave us, the stories. the moments outdoors, and the example of a life lived with purpose and heart. Bennie may no longer walk beside us, but the footprints he left—on trails, in fields, by the water, and in our lives—will remain forever.

May he rest in peace, and may we honor him by embracing the things he loved and carrying his spirit forward.
