Arnold Lewis Thompson
Arnold Lewis Thompson, Spivey's Corner, NC, son of Elijah and Nancy (Johnson) Thompson, was born June 22, 1930, in Four Oaks, North Carolina, and departed this life on March 12, 2023 in Grapevine, Texas. At the time of his passing, he was 92 years of age.
Arnold was a proud veteran who operated tanks for the United States Army. He was a star baseball pitcher for the Cleveland School and, later, the US Army. Throughout his life, he remained an avid fan of the game. Arnold loved to fish on the Surf City Pier. His awe of God's creations inspired him to spend much of his time outdoors.
On December 20, 1951, Arnold was united in marriage to Hilda Royal and to this union three children were born. Arnold made every move with the Lord in mind and Hilda by his side.
Preceding him in death were his parents, two brothers and five sisters.
His survivors include his wife, Hilda, of the home; son, Ronald Thompson, and wife Kallen, of Goldsboro, NC; son Craig Thompson and wife, Renee, of Winston-Salem, NC; daughter, Tonya Green, and husband, Byron, of Grapevine, TX; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Sherwood Thompson and wife, Carol, of Orwigsburg, PA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A viewing will begin at 10:30 am followed by a service at 11:00 am on Monday, March 20, 2023, at Central Baptist Church in Dunn, North Carolina with Pastor Tom Wagoner officiating. The burial will be in Clinton Cemetery, Clinton, NC. Floral arrangements from Clinton, NC can be sent to Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home and arrangements from Dunn, NC can be sent directly to Central Baptist Church in Dunn.
