Annie Carolyn Tew, 84, of Clinton, passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2023 at Southwood Nursing Center.
Funeral will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, December 30th at Owen Grove Pentecostal Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Kim Strickland, Rev. Stephen Burrow and Rev. Ivan Dixon officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 PM – 1:45 PM, at the church just before the service.
Annie Carolyn, born February 24, 1939 in Sampson County, was the daughter of the late Modric Tew and Agnes Mae Lockamy Tew. She retired from Reynolds Drugs in Clinton. She was a member of Owen Grove PFWB Church and taught Sunday School for many years. Annie Carolyn was a member of the Centennial Committee in 1997 and a member of the History Committee in 2022. She was an active member of Ladies Circle for many years. She was famous for her Christmas plays she wrote for her church. The play for Christmas 2023 was one of her old plays about homeless people that was written approximately 20 years ago. She was a blessing to Owen Grove PFWB Church and her church family. She co-authored “Footprints From Kitty Fork” with her cousin Fannie Lee Williams. She also wrote “A Place To Hide.” In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Sylvia Tew McLamb and her husband Joe McLamb.
Survivors include her brother Modric Kenneth Tew and wife Patsy, and nieces and nephews Denise Burrow (Stephen), Karen Spilman (Sam), Jeff McLamb, Kenna McFarland (Jay) and Kara Tew and many great- nieces and great-nephews.
