Mr. Alston Glenwood Fryar, 82, died Saturday, December 6, 2025, in Rex Hospital in Raleigh.
Funeral service will be held at 2 PM, Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Raeford Carter officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral home on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, from 6 – 8 PM and other times at his home.
Mr. Fryar was a native of Sampson County and the son of the late James Alston Fryar and Eva Irene Pope Fryar. He was a farmer and a member of Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church where he served as the Adult Sunday School Teacher for 41 years. He was a deacon and served as Chairman of the Board of Deacons. He was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Carlotta Pope Fryar.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Peggy S. Fryar; two sons, Glen Fryar and Gary Fryar (Nancy) both of Clinton; two sisters, Cathy Jones of Turkey and Linda Howard of Matthews; grandchildren, Chandler Fryar of Clinton, Raelyn Fryar of Clinton and Garrison Fryar of Wendell; great-grandchildren, Alston Fryar III, Paul Fryar and Henry Fryar.
