William Harrison “Bill” Brinkley, 89, of Clinton, NC passed away Sunday, July 22nd, very peacefully at home surrounded by his loved ones and is now with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Bill was born in Selma, NC on August 17th, 1928. He was preceded in death by his step-father (James Alton Strickland) and mother (Eva Wilkins Strickland). He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Evelene Honeycutt Brinkley, his 3 daughters, Rebecca Brinkley Walls and husband Bruce, Peggy Brinkley Joyner and husband Gregory, and Donna Brinkley Stanley and husband Robert; eight loving grandchildren, Brian Watson and wife Karen, Kevin Watson and wife Kristy, Amy Watson Willis and husband Matt, Brandon Joyner and wife Ilene, Jaynie Joyner Hamilton and husband Bryce, Lauren Joyner and fiancé TJ Anderson, Kaye Stanley, and Harrison Stanley; 9 great grandchildren, Parker Watson, Mason Watson, William Watson, Emma Watson, Katelyn Watson, Jake Watson, Becca Willis, Hayes Willis, and Kayson Joyner.
Bill was a charter member of Freedom Baptist Church in Salemburg, NC serving as a Deacon, Chairman of Deacons, Building and Grounds committee, Budget and Finance committee, Adult Choir member, and Men’s Sunday School teacher for over 25 years. Bill retired as a General Adjuster with Continental Insurance Company with over 40 years of service in the industry. Bill served his country honorably as a member of the Navy and was a 50-year member of Free Masonry.
The Family will receive visitors from 6-8 pm, July 25th at Crumpler- Honeycutt Funeral Home in Clinton, NC. Funeral services will be held 11 am, July 26th at Freedom Baptist Church in Salemburg, NC. Services will be conducted by Reverend Paul Honeycutt followed by a grave side service at the Church.
