Tongie Jean Long, 58, of 2103 Chancey Road, passed away Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at Kindred Hospital in Greensboro, NC.
A funeral service will be held at 2 P.M., Saturday, April 8, 2017 at Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home with the Reverend Gene Jones officiating. Interment will follow in the Clinton City Cemetery
Tongie, born in Sampson County in 1958, was the daughter of the late Oscar Ray Lee and Norma Jean King Spell. She was employed with Walmart for over twenty years and was a member of the Bread of Life Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her step-parents; Hazel Hobbs Lee and Simon Spell.
She is survived by her daughter, Tonja Jean Whaley of the home; grandsons, David Lee Bazemore, Jr. and Joel Osorio Whaley of Clinton; brother and sister, Michael Spell (Debbie) and Sherri Spell, both of Clinton; nieces and nephews, Chris Spell (Catie), Tina Ammons, Kaitlin Spell, Cody Ammons, Josh Brown, Clint Spell, Danna Ammons and Jessy Smith; great-niece, Angel Rose Ammons; and close friends, Gail Gautier, Judy Honeycutt, Sharon Hunter and Sharon Weeks.
The family will receive friends Friday, April 7, 2017 from 6 P.M. – 8 P.M., at Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
