Mrs. Willie Holt (Warren) Smith

Willie Holt Warren Smith, 94, of Clinton, NC died September 29, 2018 at Southwood Nursing Center. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 6, 2018 at First United Methodist Church with the Reverend T.R. Miller officiating.  The family will receive friends immediately after the service at the church. 

Mrs. Smith was born September 13, 1924 in Newton Grove, NC to the late Leon and Bessie Tart Warren.  She was a graduate of Newton Grove High School and Hardbarger Business College.  She was a homemaker and a dedicated member of First United Methodist Church for 70 years where she was awarded the United Methodist Women Special Mission Recognition Award in 2004.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Carlyle Smith, Jr. and a son, Dan Carlyle Smith, as well as her nine siblings, Janie Weeks, Leta Berry, Maggie Hudson, Grace Wood, Agnes Lee, Vivian Tart, Samson Warren, Dewey Warren, and Shelton Warren.

She is survived by her son, Mark Lane Smith of Fort Lauderdale, FL and her daughter and caregiver, Nancy Smith Cowand and husband Wes of Clinton, her daughter-in-law, Bobbie Carr Smith of Clinton, five grandchildren - Hutchins Smith of Dunn, Luke Smith of Clinton, Jeffrey Smith of Charlotte, Alexandra Cowand of Washington, DC, and Wesley Cowand of Clinton, four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
