Clinton,
Melba Hortense Reason, of 180 Southwood Drive, passed away Friday, August 10, 2018 at Sampson Regional Medical Center.
A funeral service will be held at 11 A.M., Monday, August 13, 2018 at St. Matthew Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Ken White and Rev. Stanley King officiating. Interment will follow in the Clinton City Cemetery.
Melba, born in 1930 in Sampson County, was the daughter of the late Marshal Thornton and Corena Brown Thornton. She retired from Hamilton Beach and was a member of St. Matthews Pentecostal Holiness Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by; her husband, Hugh Reason; son, Randy Bass; sister, Shirley Suggs; and brother, Tommy Thornton.
Survivors include; sons, William Tony Bass and wife Sharon, and Jackie Wayne Bass and wife Helen; brother, Willie Thornton and wife Glenda; sisters, Linda T. Parrish, Donnie Killette and Peggy Bryant and husband Hubert; step-children, Lane Reason and wife Dorothy, Scott Reason, Gail Smith and husband Hank; grandchildren, Brittany Bass Hobbs and husband Daniel, Lindsey Bass McLamb and husband Shannon, Tonya Bass Laird and husband Chris, and Charlie Bass and wife Cindy; great-grandchildren, Luke Hobbs, Wayne Bass, Hughlynn Bass, Isaiah Bass, Timothy Bass, Johnny Bass; and step-grandchildren, Tracy Robinson, H. L. Reason and Tyler Reason.
Memorials may be made to St. Matthews Pentecostal Holiness Church in care of Sadie Jackson, 128 Gordon Road, Clinton, NC 28328.
