Martha Jean Carberry, 75, 606 Blaney Street, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

A funeral service will be held at 11 A.M, Friday, April 14, 2017, at Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home with Pastor John Hobbs officiating.  Interment is to follow in the Clinton City Cemetery.

Martha, born in Sampson County in 1941, was the daughter of the late Robert Faircloth and Bessie Turner Faircloth.  She retired from Belks Department Store and attended Elizabeth Baptist Church.    In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by the father of her children, John L. Padgett;  daughter, Tammy Buck Ogdon; two sisters, Lilly Davis and Nancy Stanley; and brothers, Robert Faircloth and R. B. Faircloth.

Nanny,  as she was so fondly called by her grandchildren,  was a devoted wife, mother, nanny and friend.  Martha loved her family very much.  There was nothing that she cherished more.  She was always cooking, helping her family and friends and visiting her grandchildren in Wilmington or having them stay over.  She lived her life to the fullest and loved joking around and had an infectious laugh.  She was loved by all who knew her and will be missed dearly.

Survivors include her husband, Joseph Sweeney Carberry; daughter, Theresa Weber (Bill)  of Wilmington; grandchildren, Christopher Scott (Debby) , Ashley Scott-Bradford (Dave), Stephen Buck, Tiffany Buck MacNeil and Dillon Ogdon; great-grandchildren, Deven Bradford, Jackson Scott, Brody Scott, Kaitlyn Johnson, Christian Johnson, Ashlyn Johnson, Braxton Buck, Aubrey Buck ; sisters, Ruby Merritt of Magnolia, Doris Smith (J. D.) of Fayetteville; and two brothers, Jack Faircloth (Betty) of Clinton,  and Buddy Faircloth of Whiteville.

The family will receive friends from 6 P.M. – 8 P.M., Thursday, April 13, 2017 at Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home at other times at the home.
