Lou Alice Fann

CLINTON – Mrs. Lou Alice Royal Fann, 82, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 23, 2019 at UNC Rex Hospital in Raleigh, NC.

A funeral will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, June 27, 2019 at Sharon P. H. Church, 2121 Odum Road, Clinton, NC, with the Rev. Michael Oliver and Rev. Oris Hubbard officiating.  Visitation will be from 6 PM until 8 PM on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends at other times at the home.

Born in April 1937 in Sampson County, she was the daughter of Howard Lathan Royal and Ophelia Jayne Herring Royal.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Relman Futrell Fann, Sr.; her parents; one sister, Jackie Mae Hairr; two brothers, Howard Herring Royal and William Ollen Royal.

Lou Alice was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.  She attended Sharon P.H. Church where she served as the Women’s Ministry President for over a decade.  She also served as the Sunday School Secretary and enjoyed singing in the choir for many years.  With years as a supervisor at Salemburg Mfg. Company and over 30 years with Sampson County Head Start in positions as a teacher, a center director and the Sampson County Educational Disability Coordinator, she never met a stranger. She enjoyed people. She love company and company loved her cooking. 

She is survived by one son, R. F. Fann, Jr. of Clinton; two daughters, Alisa Harris (Shelton) of Mt. Olive and Gentry Kamp (Jeff)  of Clinton; five grandchildren: Glen Herring (Kalyn), Anna Kamp, Cody Kamp, Ashley Harris Joyner (Johnny), Jeremy Harris; four  great-grandchildren, Cameron Joyner, Cheyanne Joyner, Arizona Herring and Mackenzie Herring; and a brother, James Aaron Royal.
