Lenwood Marlin Simmons

Lenwood Marlin Simmons, 70, of 4012 Limestone Street, Eastover, NC, passed away at his home, Thursday, December 12, 2019 with his family by his side.

A funeral service will be held at 3 PM, Sunday, December 15, 2019 at Holly Grove Holiness Church, 1519 Indiantown Road, Clinton, NC with Rev. Brent Jackson, Rev. Steven Jacobs, Rev. Dr. Randy Simmons and Rev. James H. Brewington officiating.  The family will receive friends from 6 PM – 8 PM, Saturday, December 14, at Holly Grove Holiness Church and at other times at the home.

Lenwood, born in 1949, in Sampson County was the son of the late Rev. Jessie David Simmons, Jr., Helen Lois Simmons and his step-father, Vasco Simmons.  He attended Battle for Christ Church and retired from the City of Fayetteville as a Solid Waste Supervisor.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents, David and Odell Ammons Simmons, William and Efula Ammons Simmons and one brother E. W. Simmons. 

Survivors include: wife of 46 years, Gloria Dale Cummings Simmons; son, Lynwood Keith Simmons (Tabitha); sisters and brothers, Marty Simmons (Paula), Gloria Faye Herring, Dave Simmons (Patricia), Rita Strickland (Charles), Rev. Dr. Randy Simmons (Cynthia), Shelia Simmons, Gladys Smiling (William), Lisa Simmons (Edgar),  Rev. Steven Jacobs (Elaine) and Rachel Faircloth; grandchildren, Destiny Ann Simmons, Dillon Grey Cole; aunts and uncles, Fay Jacobs, Brenda Ammons, Bill Simmons, Harold Dale Simmons, Sr., Sam Simmons and Allen Gene Simmons; caregiver, Tabitha Garant; and a host of nieces, nephews, loved ones and friends.
