John Brent Daughtry, 60, of Clinton, passed away at his home, Wednesday, September 5, 2018.

A funeral service will be held at 3 PM, Sunday, September 9, 2018 at Grove Park Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Shook and Rev. Dennis Bazemore officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour before the service at Grove Park Baptist Church.  Interment will follow in the Clinton City Cemetery.

Brent, born in Sampson County in 1957, was the son of the late Clifton Robert Daughtry and Mildred Elizabeth McCullen Daughtry.  Brent worked in the family’s antique business and on the family farm.  Later he was caregiver to both his elderly parents. 

Survivors include, aunts, Louise Klewee of Garland, Gladys McCullen Bass of Dunn, Carol McCullen Bethune of Fayetteville, and several cousins.

Brent attended Harrells Christian Academy, Mt. Olive College and Sampson Community College.  He enjoyed all sports, politics, and celebrity gossip.  He loved dry humor and enjoyed his very special friends from Harrells Christian Academy.  You could find him purchasing the latest kitchen gadgets and would replace them with the next “new” gadget to come out.

Time spent at the country farm was some of his favorite times.  He enjoyed cutting grass and weed-eating the grounds.  The family trailer was a happy place for him.

Brent was a conservative guy with a deep love for his family and friends.  He will be missed by both.
