Earnest Kenneth Jones

Earnest Kenneth Jones, 92, of 107 Kimbrough Rd, Clinton, NC, passed away Saturday, January 12, 2019 at the Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro, NC. Kenneth was born on February 16, 1926 in Turkey, NC. Visitation will be at Crumpler Honeycutt Funeral Home, 118 Fayetteville Street, Clinton, NC from 6pm to 8pm on Tuesday, January 15. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, January 16 at 11am at Grace United Methodist Church, 800 Smith Street, Clinton, NC, with Rev. Tony Calhoun officiating. Interment will follow in the Clinton City Cemetery. Kenneth served in the US Navy during WWII. He was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal; the American Campaign Area Medal; and the WW II Victory Medal. He was employed for 43 years as manager of Fussell’s Restaurant of Clinton, NC. He loved the restaurant business – He loved to cook and he especially liked interacting with the customers: who many became lifelong friends. He also enjoyed playing golf and fishing in his free time. Kenneth was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. Kenneth was preceded in death by his wife Sudie Gallagher Jones and his parents James Everett Jones and Bertie Eldridge Jones of Turkey, NC, and his brothers Willie Everett Jones, James Cecil Jones and Delmon Jones. Kenneth is survived by his children Debbie Riley and husband Junior Riley of Roseboro, NC, and his twins: Larry Jones of Grand Forks, ND, and Sherry Wellons and husband Mike Wellons of Wilmington, NC and his sister Callie Bass of Clinton, NC. He has two grandchildren, Richard Kenneth Faircloth of Bonnetsville, NC and Holly Wellons George and husband Ronnie George of Hampstead, NC and three great-grandchildren: Jordan and Garrett Faircloth and Maverick George).
