Carrie Inez McClenny, 92, of 180 Southwood Drive, passed away Thursday, October 4, 2018 at Sampson Regional Medical Center.

Funeral will be held at 3 PM, Monday, October 8, 2018 at Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home, with Pastor Kim Strickland officiating.  The family will receive friends Monday from 1 PM – 3 PM, just before the service at the funeral home and at other times at the home of her daughter, at 2985 H. B. Lewis Road.  Interment will be held at Grandview Memorial Garden.   

Carrie, born in 1926 in Johnston County, was the daughter of the late William Bernice Thornton and Ada Louise Thornton.  She was a homemaker and a member of Bible Baptist Church.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by; husband, Joseph Steven McClenny, siblings, Harvey Thornton, Jimmy Thornton, Judy Lee, and Howard Thornton; son, Joe McClenny , Jr., and grandson, Billy Joe McClenny.

Survivors include; daughters, Linda Smith and husband Greg of Clinton,  and Betty Edge of Roseboro; siblings, Janice Powell of Wilmington, Sherill Thornton of Wallace, and Glen Ray Thornton of Burgaw; six grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.
