Bessie Brianna (Rackley) Smith

Bessie Brianna Smith, 92, of 4420 New Hope Church Road, passed away Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at her home.

A funeral service will be held at 2 P.M., Saturday, March 10, 2018 at New Hope Baptist Church in Turkey, NC with the Reverend Pat Woods officiating.  Interment will follow in the Devotional Garden in Warsaw, NC.

Bessie, born in 1925 in Sampson County, was the daughter of the late Claude Leroy Rackley and Bessie Bell Rackley.  She was a homemaker and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Kennedy Smith and son, Dennis Bruce Smith. 

Survivors include; son, Claude “Tinker” Elllie Smith of Turkey, Eugene Robert Smith (Linda) of Sparta, NC, and Thomas Earl Smith (Inge) of Newport News, VA; grandchildren, Gary Smith, Robert Smith, Victoria Pope, Dennis Christopher Smith (Jeanne Petty), Thomas Paul Smith, Matthew Dave Smith; great-grandchildren; Sebastian Michael Watts; daughter-in-law, Naomi June Kaleel (Steve).

The family will receive friends from 6 P.M. – 8 P.M., Friday, March 9, 2018 at Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
