Linda (Chesnutt) Barefoot

Linda C. Barefoot, 83, passed away Saturday, March 9, 2024 at her home.

Graveside service will be held Sunday, March 10, at 2 PM, at Rowan Baptist Church Cemetery, with Rev. Clay Carter officiating.

Linda, born March 25, 1940 in Sampson County, was the daughter of the late John Allen Chesnutt and Pearl Revelle Chesnutt Caroll.  She worked in food service at Sampson Memorial Hospital, and Duplin General Hospital where she retired.  She was a member of Rowan Baptist Church.  Linda had a servant’s heart and desired nothing much for herself but received joy loving on her friends and family and seeing good things come to them.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Gene Barefoot, daughter Sharon Barefoot, and sister Norma Rae Jones.

Survivors include; daughters, June B. Sloan and husband Tommy, Nancy Barefoot (Kenneth) and Betsy Barefoot (Clyde Preston); grandchildren, April Scharp (Will), Jeffrey Barber (B. J.), and Barrett Sloan (Allison), seven great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Carl Barefoot (Jean Faye); sister-in-law, Judy Barefoot; son-in-law, Gary Barber; childhood friend, Mary Paul Sinclair; and several nieces, nephews and friends.
