Elizabeth Ann Royal

Elizabeth Ann Royal (Mama), of Sampson County NC, passed away peacefully at home  March 1, 2024, surrounded by family and friends listening to gospel music while in prayer. She was 84 years old.

Funeral service will be held at 12 PM, Tuesday, March 5th at Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home with her nephew Kevin Royal officiating.  Interment will follow immediately after the service at the Clinton City Cemetery.  The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home.

Elizabeth Ann (Lib) was born on April 20, 1939, to Theodore and Pearl Royal of Sampson County. She attended Faison High School in Sampson County and went on to get a Business degree from Hardbarger Junior College in Raleigh, NC. She worked at Alcatel/Mackay Communications and ended her working career at Captain Stanley's Seafood.

Family was everything to her, from her siblings to her great grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, whether it was going on a road trip or simply chatting over coffee in her chair. Her favorite thing was getting to fish off the pier at the beach with loved ones.

She enjoyed her annual road trip to the mountains with her grandson, while sipping on hot apple cider and boiled peanuts. She enjoyed spontaneous shopping trips to Hamricks and Belk with her granddaughters. If music was playing, she was up dancing and twisting, while having a good time. She enjoyed relaxing to gospel music and glorifying God. Her pride and joy in life was getting to raise her three beautiful daughters, who went on to give her the grandchildren and great grandchildren she adores so much.

Elizabeth (Lib) was preceded in death by her parents, Theordore and Pearl Royal, and her siblings: Swinburne Royal Austin, James Wiley Royal “Buck”, Marvin Royal, Cedrick Royal, Hilda Royal Thompson, Wiley B. Royal, Faye Royal Strickland, and “Gene” Coleman Royal and two wonderful sons in law Jerry Marshall Bagwell and Ronald Johnakin. She is survived by her two brothers: Dallas “Wayne” Royal and wife Brenda and Lynwood “Ray” Royal and wife Eva, daughters: Pamela Holloman Bagwell, Tanna Holloman Rhew and husband John and Kimberly Moore Johnakin. In addition to her brothers and daughters she is survived by her grandchildren: Ashli Bagwell Dunlow and husband Scott, James “Blake” Evans, Blair Elizabeth Wilkes and husband Jason, and Lauren Chasiti Johnakin and great grandchildren: Evan, Landon, Madison Dunlow, Tegan and Anderson Evans, and Jamison and Pearl Wilkes.
