Wanda Fay Williamson Gaddy, 84, of Clinton, NC died peacefully in hospice care at Rolling Ridge Assisted Living, Newton Grove, NC on Friday, March 31,2017. Fay was born April 6, 1932, to Billy Lee and Azile Johnson Williamson of Taylor's Bridge, NC. She graduated from Taylor’s Bridge High School and shortly thereafter married Charles Howard Gaddy, Pharmacist. After briefly living in Crewe, VA, they returned to Sampson County and she worked for Dr. John Nance and Dr. L.C. Peak. She was Director of the migrant program with the Sampson County Board of Education. Fay served on the Board of Trustees of Sampson Community College. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the United Daughters of the Confederacy as well as a devoted member of Graves Memorial Presbyterian Church. Fay served as a delegate from the State of North Carolina at the National Republican Convention in New York City in 2004. She enjoyed playing bridge, traveling and antiques. A gifted and talented musician, her passions were performing on the piano and playing the “tub” in the Bluegrass band, “ The Outhouse Gang”. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles H. Gaddy; Parents, Billy Lee and Azile Johnson Williamson; Brother, Kermit D. Williamson, Sr.; Sister, Victoria W. Ulrich; Brothers-in-law, Ed Ulrich, Jr. and Ray C. Gaddy.
She is survived by her Nephews, Kermit D. Williamson, Jr. (Linda) of Clinton, NC, Van Ulrich (Joy) of Whiteville, NC, David Ulrich (Jeannie) of Lake Waccamaw, NC, and Marty Gaddy (Phyllis) of Savannah,GA; Nieces, Debbie W. Carver (Marvin) of Durham, NC, Paula W. O’Briant (Thad) of Raleigh, NC, Dale W. Purcell (Mac) of Clinton, NC, Wanda W. Coleman (Joel) of Clinton, NC, Mary Vick U. Boole (Michael) of Lake Ariel, PA, Lynn U. Smith (Kirk) of Essex Junction, VT, and Marcie Faircloth (Jack) of Salemburg, NC; Sisters-In-Law, Margaret S. Williamson, of Clinton, NC, Faye B. Gaddy of Clinton, NC.
Fay’s family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Jane Westbrook, her dear friend and caregiver. Additionally, they would like to thank Rolling Ridge Retirement Center and their staff for their wonderful care, love and compassion.
The family will receive friends and relatives, Friday, April 7, 2017 at 1pm, Graves Memorial Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall. A Memorial service will follow at 2pm in the Sanctuary, the Reverend Rick McDuffie officiating. The family will receive visitors at other times at the home of Kermit & Linda Williamson, 17 Pond Lane, Clinton, NC.
