Samuel Dewey Gautier, 74, of 200 Colonial Avenue, passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at his home.

A funeral service will be held at 11 A.M., Friday, January 6, 2017 at Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home with the Reverend David Willis officiating.  Interment with military honors will follow at Grandview Memorial Park.

Samuel, born in 1942 in Sampson County, was the son of the late Dewey Gautier and Katheleen Turner Gautier.  He was also preceded in death by a sister, Mary Susan Gautier.  He was retired truck driver with Lundy’s and Walmart and also served in the US Marines. 

Survivors include his wife of fifty-four years; Betty Jo Westbrook Gautier; daughters, Cynthia G. Thornton and husband Rodney of Bentonville, and Shelia G. Ezzell and husband Ronald Keith Ezzell of Ft. Meade, MD; grandchildren, Samuel Austin Ezzell, Kinley Ezzell and Sierra Ezzell; brothers, Thomas Gautier and Johnny Gautier; sisters, Bessie Starling and Ann Jacobs; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 7 P.M. – 9 P.M., Thursday, January 5, 2017 at Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home.
