Peggy Joyce (Strickland) Rackley

Peggy J. Strickland Rackley, 86, a resident at Mary Gran Nursing Center, Clinton, NC, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 9, 2017.

Born to the late Mittie Jones Tanner and Earnest Strickland on May 11, 1931, Peggy was a life time resident of Clinton, NC.  She worked as a sales clerk at the old Reynold’s Drug Store for more than forty years.  She greatly enjoyed her trips to White Lake and the NC beaches.  Peggy dearly loved all her family and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 2 P.M., Tuesday, July 11th, in the chapel at Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home in Clinton.  Family will receive friends from 1 P.M. to 2 P.M. at the funeral home before the service.  Burial will follow in the Clinton City Cemetery, Jones family plot area.

Peggy is survived by her brothers, Lindell R. Strickland Sr., (Dolly) of Summerfield, NC, Bob Tanner (Dana) of Greensboro, NC, Garland Tanner, of Greensboro, NC ; sisters, Margaret Pegram (Bobby) of Pelham, NC, Travis Peacock of Greensboro, NC, Anne Chesnutt of Walburg, SC, Norma Harris of Siler City, NC; and many loved nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husbands, Henry Floyd Jones and David Freeman Rackley and a brother, Tommy Tanner.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Liberty Hospice Services of Sampson County, 2334 South 41st Street, Wilmington, NC  28403.

Special thanks to the staff and nurses of Mary Gran Nursing Center for the care and support given to “Miss Peggy” for the last one and a half years.
