Paul Lewis Peterson

Paul Lewis Peterson passed away at his home in Massapequa, New York on March 13, 2017. Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church, 100 Rand Road, Richlands, NC, on Sunday, March 19, 2017 at 3:00 P.M., with Pastor Gary McAbee and Pastor Steve Porter officiating.  Visitation will follow immediately after the service at the church.

Paul was born on August 13, 1960 in New Bern in Craven County and grew up in Onslow County, where he graduated from Richlands High School in 1978.  He enlisted in the US Navy after graduation reaching the rank of Chief Petty Officer before retiring with 24 years of service including several deployments on the USS Midway in the Indian Ocean during the taking of American hostages by the Iranians.  After his retirement, he purchased a farm with surrounding woodlands in Jones County, NC, where he enjoyed many hours working, hunting for deer and wild turkey, and enjoying the great outdoors.  He also enjoyed visiting his relatives and friends throughout the country.  Paul has been a member of First Baptist Richlands since 1972.  He was preceded in death by his parental grand-parents, Paul David Peterson and Mary Rebecca Butler Peterson and his maternal grand-parents, Lewis Daughtry and Ludie Lee Daughtry, all of Clinton, NC.

Paul is survived by his wife, Ann Wozniak of the home; daughter, Charline Peterson Whitebread

(Chris) of Fallon, Nevada; mother, Delia Peterson and father, Charles David Peterson, a sister, Delia Kay Peterson Hunter of Chesnee, SC; a brother, Charles David Peterson, Jr. of Clinton; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.  Paul was a special person to everyone that knew him and we will forever cherish his memory until we meet again on that glorious day.

A graveside service will be conducted by Pastors Gary McAbee and Steve Porter at Rowan  Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, 701 Rowan Road, Clinton, NC, with full military honors

on Monday, March 20, 2017 at 11 A.M.
