Welcome to the memorial page for

Ophelia (Woods) Harper

January 1, 1933 ~ November 27, 2016 (age 83) 83 Years Old

Mrs. Ophelia (Boots) Woods Harper, 83, began her new life in Heaven on the first Sunday of Advent, November 27, 2016.  She passed away at home surrounded by family.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 30 at 2:00pm at Grove Park Baptist Church with Dr. Gary Threatt officiating. The family will receive friends at the church following the service. Interment will be at the Rowan Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Harper was born in Mt. Olive, Mississippi and raised in Gulf Port, Mississippi to the late Wylie Byron and Bertie Sullivan Woods on January 31, 1933.  She met the love of her life in 1950, William (Bill) Harper and after three weeks of courting in High Point, NC they slipped off to Dillon, SC unbeknownst to family and were married.  They then moved to Melbourne, FL where they lived for over 60 years. They relocated to Clinton, NC in the last few years due to health issues.  This union lasted 66 years until Bill unexpectedly passed away last year.

Boots is survived by her son, William R. Harper, Jr. and wife Sheila of Brooksville, FL and daughter, Telia Kivett and husband Jerol of Salemburg, NC.  Grandchildren, Brennon Huggard, Tara Harper White and Kristan Harper Smith; three step-grandchildren, Jason Kivett, Josh Kivett and Callie Chafin; 2 step-great grandchildren. Family member, Christine Kivett.  Cherished friends, Ilia and Mike Bauman.  Sister in law and dear friend, Dean Woods.  Multiple nieces and nephews that she cherished and held dear to her heart. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, grandson, Shannon C. Huggard, parents, six brothers and two sisters.

Boots would like to be remembered for her love of God, her family, her precious friends, her flowers and the meticulous yard she kept for over 60 years while enjoying the sunshine and fresh air of Florida. She was loved by all who knew her and never met someone she couldn’t win over.   Her bright blue eyes, beautiful smile and gorgeous hair would melt your heart.   God is proud of the way she fought with her debilitating “Essential Tremor” disease for years.  It was hard, but she kept that smile right until the end.

A special thank you is extended to Rev. Ann Mosson, Shirley Williams and Angela Goodrich for their love and care of Boots, which enabled her to remain at home until her Savior called her to her permanent home and reuniting with Bill.  The family would also like to thank the staff of Community Home Care and Hospice of Clinton for their care and services.  Especially her beloved Tommie Brisco, RN and Carlee Cannady, CRN.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Grove Park Baptist Church, 609 North East Boulevard, Clinton, NC 28328 or Community Home Care and Hospice, 216 Beaman Street, Clinton, NC 28328.
