Michael Conoly Jackson

Michael Conoly Jackson of Spivey’s Corner, North Carolina, passed away Thursday, December 28 after an extended illness.  Dr. Jackson was an educator in the Camp LeJeune Dependent Schools,  the North Carolina Community College system and Midway High School.  He was born in Sampson County, NC to Charles Conoly Jackson and Hester Bartlett Jackson on 23 August 1942.  He grew up in Roxboro, Person County, North Carolina.  He graduated from Roxboro High School in 1960.  He received his bachelor’s, master’s, and doctor’s degrees from North Carolina State University.  He loved horticulture and shared his love of plants with many students and others.

At the time of his death he was the fifth generation to live in the Jackson house in Sampson County.  His Jackson family has been in Sampson County area since 1773.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Charles B. Jackson.  His survivors include his brothers Daniel W. Jackson of Dobson, North Carolina, and Paul Jackson and wife Kathryn of Dobson, North Carolina, niece Kathryn Folger Hall, nephews Charles B. Jackson Jr., John D. Jackson and Franklin David Jackson. 

Graveside services will be held at Robert’s Grove OFW Baptist Church, 725 Roberts Grove Road, Dunn, NC  28334,  on Saturday, December 30 at 2:00 PM.  Visitation is from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM in the church.

Memorials can be made to the Robert’s Grove Building Fund, 725 Robert’s Grove Church Road, Dunn, NC  28334.
