Doris Bass, 87, of 901 W Mt. Gilead Church Road, passed away Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at her home. 

Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M, Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church with Reverend Matthew Burris, Reverend Tim Register and Reverend Larry King officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Doris, born in Sampson County in 1930, was the daughter of the late William Almer and Lizzie Lockamy McLamb.  She was a member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church and a homemaker.  She was a wonderful Christian mother, grandmother and wife.  She always encouraged family to have a forgiving heart and love one another.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Johnson Bass, grandchild, Phyllis Bass and sister, Edith McLamb Gunter.

Survivors include; children, Barbara Bass Elmore and husband Steve of Clinton, Steven Johnson Bass and wife Gail of Clinton, and Joan Bass Barlowe and husband Gerald of Raleigh; grandchildren, Amy Elmore, Eric Elmore and wife Carie, DeLeon Bass and wife Stephanie, Ed Bass and wife Beth, Amanda Warren and husband Chris, Sharon Lane and husband Blake, Brittaney Dieppa, Ashley Lane, Jordan Lane and wife Ashley; and nine great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M., Friday, February 9, 2018 at Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home, and at other times at the home.
