Delbert A. Carr, 85, of 505 Carolina Avenue, passed away Wednesday, May 25, 2016, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

A funeral service with military honors will be held at 2 P.M., Saturday, May 28, 2016, at Grove Park Baptist Church, with the Reverend Dr. Gary Threatt and Reverend Michael Shook officiating.  Interment will follow in the Clinton City Cemetery.

Delbert, born in Sampson County in 1930, was the son of the late Eddie Almond Carr and Cara Parsons Carr.  He was the manager of Flakes Tire Service, a Deacon for Grove Park Baptist Church and a devoted family man.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters; Rufus Carr, W. A. Carr, Lillie Carr, Mary Ellen Calder and Emily Tew.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years,  Betty M. Carr of the home; sons, Arnold Carr and wife Kellee of Wilmington, and David Carr and wife Jeana of Newton Grove; grandchildren, Morgan, Ashley, Christy, Regan, Josh and Kelby; and great-grandchild, Brantley.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN  38105 or Grove Park Baptist Church, 609 Northeast Blvd., Clinton, NC  28328.

The family will receive friends from 12 P.M. – 1:30 P.M., Saturday, May 28, 2016 at Grove Park Baptist Sanctuary and at other times at the home.
