Clyde Stevenson Locklear, Sr., 91, of 6270 N US 421 Hwy, passed away Friday, March 31, 2017 at Sampson Regional Medical Center.

A funeral service will be held at 4 P.M., Sunday, April 2, 2017 at New Bethel Baptist Church,  with the Rev. Terry Cummings and Dr. Mike Cummings officiating.  Interment will follow in the New Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 3 P.M. to 4:00 P.M., just prior to the service at the church.

Clyde, born in 1925 in Robeson County, was the son of the late Dewy Locklear and Mary Maynor Locklear.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Simmons Locklear.  He was a retired school teacher, Sunday school teacher, and a member of the New Bethel Baptist Church men’s choir.

Survivors are; son, Clyde Locklear, Jr. and wife Tasha; sisters, Edna Locklear, Magdelene Gore and Shelby Jean Patrick; and two grandchildren, Meredeth Paige Locklear and Weston Cole Locklear.
