Mr. Alton Brewer Barker, Sr., 85, of 1281 Harmony Church Rd., passed away Sunday, August 21, 2016 at his home.

A funeral service will be held at 2 PM, Wednesday, August 24, 2016, at Harmony Baptist Church with the Rev. Dannie Powell and Rev. W.H. Calcutt officiating. Interment will follow in the Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery.

Alton, born in Sampson County to the late Clarence Davidson Barker and Pauline Rich Barker, was a Postal Carrier for the US Postal Service.  In addition he served as a medic in the Korean War, was a member of the VFW and a member of Harmony Baptist Church.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters; Elsie Lee Honeycutt, Lillian Britt; and one grandchild, Gemma Rose Barker.

Survivors include his wife of sixty-four years, Wilda Bass Barker; son, Alton Brewer Barker, Jr. and wife Lauren; and daughter, Darlene Gay B. Vuke and husband Tom; grandchildren, Clinton and Mason Barker, Amanda Vuke Shreve and husband Mark, Joseph Vuke, Michael Vuke and wife Gwen, Stephanie Vuke Filidoro and husband A. J.; great-grandchildren, Felicity, Thomas, Annabelle, Lillian, and Kara; and brothers, Edward Barker and Charles Barker.

The family will receive friends from 6 P.M. – 8 P.M., Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Harmony Baptist Church Building Fund,  1357 Harmony Church Road, Clinton, NC  28328.
